Welcome to Tri-Tec

Your new life starts here

Here at Tri-tec, we see ourselves as a functioning body. In the outside world you may have been underqualified, mismatched, lacking in skills, or overall undesirable. Where other companies have struggled to shape the skillset of their workers, we instead focus on uniqueness, specifically the unique position we are in to shape you into the perfect worker for a role.

[in]Human Resources is a game about transformation, kink, and corporate exploitation.

Head of the Genetics division, Madeline Mays

In this game you fill the role of temp workers hired by the fictional medical and industrial megacorporation Tri-Tec, working different jobs day to day, and attempting to escape the unfortunate situation you and your team have found yourselves in.

You have been locked down underground for nearly two months due to a potential world ending threat in the BioMechanics department related to an all-knowing fleshy computerized organism made of the former department head. Nobody has heard from anybody on the surface for weeks, and the upper upper crust of management has locked themself within a neighboring executive luxury bunker.

_______________________

The average day of a Rapid Assistance and Temporary Staffing team member (RATS) is full of peril, and a wide variety of awful, nightmarish… And admittedly hot tasks.

Often you will be offered or required to take on dangerous and volatile Mutagens that will alter your physical, mental, and spiritual capabilities at the cost of disfiguring you in monstrous ways. These can range from a body made of rubber, to being turned into a functional hivemind of livestock, to your flesh bursting with metal spikes and growths.

Armed with their Professionalism skills, handling capability, their ability to resolve conflicts, their curiosity, and capacity to experiment and look between the threats of reality, these RATS must work together with their team to survive. Community is important, and developing your own workplace culture is vital to surviving in whatever form they can.

As they fight through the halls, offices, test chambers, and recreation areas of Universal Complex 1,  RATS will maim and demoralize mutants, coworkers, robots, and extraplanar beings to accomplish their job for the day, or simply survive to make it back to their bunks. Rewarded in Vouchers for 1 free pizza party, as well as a pittance of funds sent to a bank account they cannot use within the facilities walls, and some tangible reputation scoring, RATS team members instead look to various independent contractors hiding out of view of the facilities extensive camera network for side jobs, and additional mutations to give them a leg up in the rat race.

Those who start their job here will not be the same as when they entered.

A burnout from the middle of nowhere could walk out a cybernetic murderous pig monster, a video editor from the city could leave as a being all but erased and untethered from existence itself as they float through reality. The only thread that is constant is that they need to get out of here. To do that they need to be stronger than the rest, and smart enough to figure out a way past the nerve gas and turret network that keeps them trapped within these walls.

HI a question! The Obedience Course perk that 'they lose 1 + number of times you’ve done this in a row Will'. Is Will a mechanic? Did you mean Spirit?

(1 edit) (+1)

Spirit is what was meant yes, old terminology! This needs to be updated in the next version though, since this is meant to say "1 + the number of times you have used this ability" only. Two versions of the move got smashed together.

coolcool thanks! Couple other questions:

It doesn't explicitly say what happens when you run out of Flesh or Spirit. I suppose it could be deduced that running out of Flesh kills your character but what about running out of Spirit?

I think it's also implied that some enemies will cause mutations but is there a mechanical path for this or is it at the GM's discretion?

Additionally contests say they cost 3 flesh/spirit, is that just applied at the start of the contest or just in general?

And what's the difference between fighting an enemy (rolling conflict resolution) and performing a contest with them?

(1 edit)

Happy to answer! I'll also make sure to review and see how we can clarify those in the next version.

-When you run out of Flesh your character dies unless you have something that negates that. When you run out of Spirit, your character goes catatonic and suffers some form of coma/heart attack/death really at the DMs discretion based on what works best for the moment. Think of it like Morale fully collapsing in a way that physically impacts you.

-Mechanically we should clarify how that works. I'll need to talk to my other devs about this, but currently it's intended that if the mutations hit is up to GM discretion.

-The Flesh and Spirit costs deducted applies with the other damage at the end of the contest. This way a character can go out with a bang.

-Conflict Resolution could also be clarified a bit more in the next release. Currently, how it works is, where Percussive Maintenance is used to make items work, Conflict Resolution is used to make concious being and living creatures work. Think if it like thrashing someone around and intimidating them physically, usually used to avoid entering a contest and risking damage.

Thank you for the questions, they're genuinely super great feedback for us!
